South Florida will honor military for Memorial Day!

Every year on the last Monday of May, the nation pauses to honor our fallen.  “The “National Moment of Remembrance” resolution was passed in December 2000; which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans “To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps,” according to Joshua Claybourn.

There were several respectful celebrations, parades, and ceremonies up and down the central east coast of Florida.

Port St. Lucie: The Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department will hold their city’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m., Monday, May 30th at Veterans Memorial Park.  The ceremony is held each year to support U.S. military troops and to honor those who lost their lives defending American freedom.

Martin County: The annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on May 30th in downtown Stuart, Florida.  The Memorial Day Parade and ceremony is dedicated to the remembrance of the men and women who sacrificed their lives in defense of this great nation.  The residents of Martin County take this moment to honor their lives and recognize the sacrifice service members made in all national conflicts of war, including WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf Wars, Afghanistan and Iraq wars.  According to the Veteran’s Council of Martin County, “The purpose of Memorial Day events is to solemnly commemorate the gravity of sacrifices made by members of our Armed Forces.  Special emphasis will be placed on recognizing Gold Star Mothers and immediate family members of those who have died while serving on active duty in defense of our Nation.”

Palm Beach County: The City of Boca Raton will host a Memorial Day Concert.  The New Gardens Band, Inc. will present the Indian River Pops Orchestra, featuring the Robert Sharon Chorale.  Full concert band will play patriotic music under the direction of Dwight Robert Roadman.  For more information, visit the Mizner Park Amphitheater website by clicking here.

Thank you so very much to our men and women in our armed forces whether past or present!  We are hoping that you are able to show your appreciation and participate in one of these wonderful events, make sure to plan for next year!  Leave a comment on our blog!
